Sea Turtle Inc on South Padre Island is located on the North End of South Padre Island on the bay side next to the South Padre Island World Birding and Nature Center and across the street from the La Quinta Inn & Suites South Padre Island.
The Sea Turtle Inc Sea Turtle Conservatory was founded by Ila Fox Loetscher, also known as the Turtle Lady, in her own backyard in 1977. In 1999, Sea Turtle Inc moved to its current location on the north end of South Padre Island. Aside from its operation for rescuing beached turtles, rehabilitating injured turtles, and release healed and grown turtles, the conservatory is also open to the public for education on their efforts. Visitors can view the different turtles that they currently has residing at their facilities for observation. The well-educated staff also provide a wealth of information about marine turtles and other marine life.
